I borrowed a coworker’s AlienBee studio lights the other day and managed to get this portrait of my daughter Emily. She was getting ready for her dance recital practice when I snagged her for a quick shot.
Enjoy.

What a great capture of a little cutie-pie!
The colors are good, looking true to life and no shadows anywhere.
- Cut me off a pc of that!

The lights have worked really well and the colour balance is very natural. The dance costume has worked really well and Emily makes such a sweet subject.
If I may be a bit picky, I feel the photo has lost some mood due to the general balance of the lighting. Perhaps with a darker backdrop to bring the subject out.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
George, thanks for the critique. At this point, I'm simply trying to reproduce the types of shots they take at Proex, a local portrait studio chain. They mostly use flat lighting and sometimes white backdrops. I've had several people ask me to take portraits of their kids so I'm trying to reproduce what they would get if they were having someone like Proex do it. My next task is to incorporate some dramatic lighting and fun backdrops.
Thanks again for the insight and advice. It's always appreciated.

Thanks for the clarification, Josh. I figure Proex (unknown over here) then use this method to make it easier to photoshop out the subject and superimpose it onto assorted backdrops like beach scenes and such for some fake creativity.
Either way, the colour balance is spot on and there are no shadows at all so your positioning of the lights is perfect.
