Imagine driving along in your truck minding your own business when you see smoke behind you, then you realise that your truck is on fire! Now that would certainly be unexpected!
This shot was taken back in February on the way home from work one Friday Afternoon. This prime mover has been completely destroyed by fire. I have no idea what caused it and from the burnt remains you see here, it looks like the fire started behind the cabin, maybe from the exhaust stacks. By the time I saw this, the fire was already put out and the truck dragged from the main road. You can see the melted rubber skid mark on the road.
In the second photo the Continental Tyres mobile unit is getting some wheels on the front of the truck so that it can be reverse towed.
- Cut me off a pc of that!

The bloke with his hands on his hips is the tow truck driver. You can see the twin exhausts and the emergency lights from the tow truck that is otherwise hidden by the burnt prime mover. He's just waiting for the tyre bloke to finish his bit so he can get the wreck on the way. I don't know where the driver of the burnt truck is. There were a lot more police and the council was cleaning the mess on the street. That's all happening out of frame.
From what I can tell, it was just a fire. The cabin is melted and buckled from the heat as many trucks these days have aluminium bodies to reduce the weight. In this case, it was the aluminium air dam that sits on top of the cab that reduces air resistance and improves fuel economy normally. Any more than what I have mentioned in the story I just can't give answers to.
I got there too late!
