2008 Indianapolis 500

2008 Indy 500 I attended the Indianapolis 500 this year. We had a police escort which was very interesting with trick riding by the officers. I took over 300 pictures, but I only put in 20 for the slide show which gives an overview of the race. Hope you enjoy.

Sorry, the photos came out in the wrong order. They were fine when I viewed it, but came out in the reverse when submitted.

I was using my Canon Rebel with a 70-300 lens.

Very nice set.The 70-300 is a very useful lens, I bought one a while back. very well done and it looks like you had a great time.

Nice job of it Larry...you were right in the action. Were you in the center of the track? You were very close, even using the 70-300. I can't believe the police were doing tricks...never have seen that before.

Yes, I was close to the center. Actually I was in a suite part of the time and when outside I could walk from the start/finish line to the end of the pits. This walk way over looked the pits. It was fantastic. I will be there again for the NASCAR race later this month.

What a great opportunity! How does one get in on such close access?
Never been to an outo race, but something I've been wanting to try some time. Thanks for bumping that item up higher on that list.

Great shots, Larry. I can really feel the atmosphere of the day in your photos. I think you had probably the best position around the track that allowed you to get the variety of the action that you did. Have good trips away! It's never easy travelling without your family. For me, the novelty wore off after the first business trip I ever made!

Great set - good to see someone else into motor racing, even if it's the merry-go-round version !
It's great when you can get close enough to take these sort of shots - that's why I like the vintage meetings. I use my 75-300 all the time - it's more manageable than the bigger lenses for moving objects in particular.
