Yesterday I arrived inThe Park just before sunrise and there was a strong breeze blowing off the ocean. This clump of sawgrass flower caught my attention.
I love that sawgrass appears to be so flimsy and frail, and yet is perfectly suited to withstand the toughest winds. It doesn't much get a reprieve from it, does it?
Mima Sawgrass is part of a family called sedges and the grass grows out one balde at a time from the center of the plant. The grass flower is the center stalk. It blows about in the wind scattering the seeds by the wind.
Hee Hee, Colin. You've found me out! I can be a bit of a witch as well as a wretch! I didn't know that about sawgrass. Thanks for the new knowledge that I can share with my kids. I love to point out to them how amazing our Creator is in His design, every chance I get!
