Thank you. The photo was taken on Antelope Island on The Great Salt Lake, Utah. It was the end of a very hot and humid day. The air had been almost still at ground level, but you could see that the wind was increasing higher up as the storms developed all around. The area that we were overlooking from a bison ranch that we were visiting was a particularyly shallow (almost dry) part of the lake. I'm no meteorologist, but I'm told that this was the result of the heat, evaporating moisture, and the sudden localized down-draft. What I do know is that this rainbow just materialized so suddenly that everyone was breathless for a moment. Even the ranch owners ran scrambling to the house to grab their cameras. Lucky I just happened to have mine handy.
Thank you once again, but as I said in my profile, I am really just catching God's extravagance in my photos and I thank Him for allowing me to witness these things.
Hi Sara, Great captures, love the story on the microburst. Ditto on God's hand. My mother often commented on God's existence when she was looking at flowers. I often find myself repeating my mothers comments.
Thanks, Mima. I owe you a lot for encouraging me to allow myself to pursue this long-supressed hobby. I'm just a point-and-shoot gal right now, but hope to keep moving forward.
I really love "Microburst" too. Another one of those lucky to be in the right place at the right time kind of shots. Well executed too giving some context to the environment.
