2008 Indy 500 I attended the Indianapolis 500 this year. We had a police escort which was very interesting with trick riding by the officers. I took over 300 pictures, but I only put in 20 for the slide show which gives an overview of the race. Hope you enjoy.

Ad Challenge - Gerber's Baby Food
After feeding my Grandson I figured it would be a good time to do my Ad photos. Here is what I came up with.Gerbers is finger licking good. Now this is what I want you to get, OK.
Shadow
I just have not had enough time to work on this challenge. This last Saturday I was in Indianapolis with nothing to do on the weekend so I headed out into the sunny, but very cold 9 degree weather to try and find something for this challenge. Just before I was ready to give up I finally found something that would work. I took the picture with my work camera and then headed back to a warm room and some movies on the TV. Here is my entry into the "SHADOW CHALLENGE".
Reflections
I have been gone for most of December. I wanted to take some pictures for this challenge, but guess I will just post some that qualify, but were taken before. Here they are.China 1 China 2 China 3 Washington Monument Capitol Car fender Pond 1 Las Vegas
Wind challenge
I went up to Arrowhead Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains last weekend. The wind was keeping the clouds from going over the mountain. I took a picture of our "two national flags" at a McDonalds Restaurant up there. The other two pictures show a wind surfer in the Pacific Ocean and a few sail boats just outside the San Francisco Giants stadium hoping to get a Berry Bonds home run.America's National Flags Wind stopping the clouds Wind surfing Windy San Francisco Bay
California fire from airplane
I took these two pictures tonight as I was flying back from Indianapolis. The San Diego fire picture was taken from about 80 to 100 miles away at about 15,000 ft. There was a nice sunset to the west, but this was taken more to the south. The picture was taken with my work camera through one of the dirtiest windows I have seen, but it showed the smoke and glow from the fire. The sunset was more yellow. The other picture was taken at a lower altitude through the smoke from the Arrowhead fire and aimed West toward the sunset.San Diego fire Smoke sunset
Repeating Patterns - We have a winner
I want to thank everyone for their participation in this challenge. We had 11 people that submitted entries and 133 total entries. Both new highs.
All 11 people that submitted entries had one or more of their pictures receiving votes. There were 30 different entries receiving votes and 15 of those received two or more votes.
The winner is BobCat with his "Glass Block" entry. Second place goes to JSHobbs with his "F1 Museum" entry and third place to Askssk for her "Nothing but net".
It was really a close race with 7 different photos getting a first place vote.
For a complete list of stats, please click here.
Congratulation Bob! Now you need to put on your thinking cap and give us a good challenge.
Thanks again for everyones entries. Now I can head to the airport.
Repeating Patterns end this weekend
You have a few days left to post your last entries and also to go over all of them to pick your favorites. As we near the end of the month we have at least 130 entries. With this amount we need to vote for the top five. As always list them in your order of preference and give both the title and photographer. Please get your vote into me by Sunday evening and I will post the results that night or Monday morning. I am traveling on Monday so would like to finish on Sunday.
You can email me your votes at ltorkel@roadrunner.com or send them to me at this site.

Route 66 Rendezvous
Attended the 18th annual classic car show in Downtown San Bernardino on Saturday. This is the largest cruisin' car show with over 2,100 pre 1974 cars. The cars can cruise on a 3 mile route from 9 am to 9 pm. They have reserved spots along the route so they normally cruise for an hour and then park for a few hours before cruising again. Many of the cars have big 400 cu" engines and they are allowed to have the headers undone so it can be quite loud at times. Here are a few of the cars.01 Route 66 02 Route 66 03 Route 66 04 Route 66 05 Route 66 06 Route 66 07 Route 66 08 Route 66 09 Route 66 10 Route 66 11 Route 66 12 Route 66 13 Route 66 14 Route 66

Challenge: Challenge - Repeating Patterns
I was going to make the challenge "Occupational Hats", but when I talked to someone about it they said they would have a hard time taking a picture of someone they didn't know. Maybe I will do that on my own some day. So with time rushing by and my time limited I decided to make the challenge "Repeating Patterns". This may not be as exciting as the egg challenge, but it may be a good chance to do a little macro work. Here are a couple of everyday examples.Telephone Poll Tile roof

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
