My mom was down visiting us for the past couple of days (she only lives an hour away).  She's lived in Florida most of her life, but has never visited Fairchild Tropical Gardens or to Vizcaya.  Well, I changed all of that and got these 2 really lovely reflection photos.  I took a ton of pictures over the past couple of days and will post the links later today.  

The palm frawn reflection was taken at Fairchild.  The Vizcaya house reflection is my favorite, as it caught my eye in one of the garden pools.

I have switched to taking the photos in RAW. These are all processed in CaputereNX. Helen, Amanda, Mathew, Amy and I had an interesting day down in the Park. We saw 2 American Bittens and and American Eagle. These are all very unusal sightings.In addition we saw all the normal birds and animals. We had a momment of horror when some locals decided to fish in the lake. They decided it was wise to move along when the facts were explained to them.
We did a long hike out to Snake Bite and were rewarded with disappointment. No major bird sightings. But the experience was worth the effort. Snake Bites trip

I finally got some time to go out and take some photos for this month's challenge. Both of these are from a trip to Sabino Canyon this morning.

I've rotated each image 180 degrees which makes for an interesting "sky" created by the bottom of Sabino Creek.

Well, better late than never.  The iguana hangs out around the perimeter of our lake at BCI in Miami.  The Tricolored Heron was taken on Saturday at Anhinga Trail.

Reflections are not only the image in a pond but a memory recognized in the mind of things from past. This was taken on Loop Road.

This is my story, in pictures, of what I saw and felt on this early mornig trip into the Everglades National Park.
It was a neat experience to spent a day with my coworkers and their families, and together experience this unique piece of America.

Firstly, I need to apologise to everyone here that I haven't been on the site for a bit. I've had a pretty horrid month on the personal front with very sick dear friends and the passing away of our Cadet Unit Commanding Officer. At least my friends are on the mend and we are once again moving forward.

I see that everyone has been busy with the challenge and there's just too many entries and other posts to go back and comment on them now. Great work people - your photos have kept my spirits lifted the last 2 weeks. For that I truly thank you all.

And thus to take my mind of things I conjured up some reflections of my own. I went for 3 very different techniques. The making of a kaliedoscope was probably the best fun of all and the clash of colour with the paint swatches (Free from the hardware shop!) brought me to title that shot with a play on the word "kaliedoscope".

I have to admit that I'm a sucker when it comes to images reflected in water. It always looks so cool in real life but somehow rarely comes across in a photo. Among many disappointments I feel reasonably happy with some of my efforts and these are a few of those (along with one actual mirror - well, sort of).

Auoto-Reflections
As Mima has impressively demonstrated, shiny cars and ornaments at car shows provide neat opportunities to get creative with reflections. These are a few of my favorites taken over the years. Before anyone asks - yes, they are my legs ! Just goes to show - these cars are leg-endary !
