I was cataloging images and came across a few more candidates for the current challenge.

These are all from various trips through Sabino Canyon near Tucson, AZ.

Fall_5506 (Sabino Fall) has my wife and youngest daughter although you may have to look a bit to find them.

JM_7603 (I Spy...) is a stretch for inclusion. I photoshoped the tint on my father-in-law's glasses. Just in case you are wondering, my daughter was looking through her imaginary binoculars and insisted her grandpa look through his as well.

As you can see from the hour of this post, it is one of those sleepless nights.  So, I was still browsing through my archives, and found these additional shots that fit the theme.

These were taken on our vacation this summer, during which we rediscovered, among other things, that sometimes the less you say, the more you say.

This was my little guy getting silly one day.  He has quite a wit for a 3 year old.  He had me going for a while, and you can imagine my laughter when he announced in his delighted, 3-yr-old voice, "There it is!"

Trick or Treat? Not a game we play but, when we do play, we play for keeps....

Ummmm, no-one was injured in the making of this hanging etc. etc. etc... I hope that I have been successful in attempting to capture a "swinging" motion off the end of the noose.

"Down!" was shot from the side lines on the opposite side of the field with my new 100-400 hand held at 400mm. A fair bit of crop but I liked the motion of the moment and thought it a worthy entry into the challenge.

My son is always a good sport and is keen to help me with these sort of props.

Kaley and I spent a couple of hours at the zoo on Sunday afternoon. I just couldn't help myself on this one...

Behind the lines

Went to the Placentia Heritage Parade last Saturday.  My granddaughter was in the parade so it was a must see event.  We had our first rain in months and it stopped just before the parade started.  Thought these pictures would qualify.

I had been thinking about doing a picture like this from the beginning of the challenge and finally got around to trying it out.

After much thought I finally came up with some ideas for the challenge.
Face off challenge

I went digging through my archived images and came up with a couple that seem to meet the requirements for the current challenge. These were taken this past May near the Gila Wilderness in New Mexico. I went there with a friend to do some astronomy observing during the evening and photography during the daytime. It turned out that the weather was lousy for astronomy for most of the week (clouds -- visualize me shaking a clenched fist towards the sky), but turned out to be a very good trip for photography.

These are a couple of shots of my friend in action. Apologies to Mangoes for posting a very similar image.

The first photo was taken on a cold, misty morning.  We spotted two seals and as we peered through the scope at them it looked as though they were staring right back at us.  They were so cute!  She looks like an old fashioned photographer with the cloth draped over her head.  But that blanket was for warmth!

The second photo was taken from inside our cottage.  At first I cropped out the computer and cell phone but AOL still showed so I figured, "What the hey, I'll leave it as is".

I shot these Point and shoot it gave me an idea for the no faces challenge.
Bikers have a style about the way they ride. That style was what I was trying to capture.
But Amy beat me to it. Here is the post any way.

We are back from Vegas! It was an interesting trip to say the least. Traveling with a child is an adventure in itself! I have lots of stories to tell and about 500+ pictures to sort through. I shot only in RAW, so I’ll have a ton of work to do on them before I can show them off. Here are 2 that I thought were perfect for the challenge.

The main highlight of our trip happened on Friday driving to the Grand Canyon. Kaley caught a stomach virus and puked in the rental on the way to the Grand Canyon on Friday. We thought she was just car sick, but turned out to be a 24 hour bug. Despite the many stops we had to make for Kaley, we still managed to arrive before sunset. Unfortunately, I had to go by myself to see it and didn't get the kind of pictures I had hoped for.

We showed up for our 7 pm dinner reservations at El Tovar and we had to cancel after she threw up all over the stairs leading to the bathroom. On Saturday, Steve and I ended up taking turns seeing the Canyon. It was less than a 2 minute walk to Bright Angel Trail from our cabin. I was feeling very disappointed and yet, so bad for Kaley. We let her stay in bed until checkout time and luckily, she started to feel better and was able to keep some food down. Once she perked up, we checked out and spent about 2 hours walking from Yavapai Point to Mathers Point. Due to the delay in our time schedule we never made it to Route 66, but I'm so thankful we got to see the Grand Canyon as a family!  

We also had strange weather conditions, like 50 mph wind warnings on Thursday night that lasted until 9 pm Friday night. So we didn't get to see the fountain show at the Bellagio, as they canceled them due to the high winds!

Then we had a turbulent flight today, which only my daughter enjoyed. A plane full of people are moaning out loud and Kaley is saying that it's like riding a roller coaster.

I always thought I took a lot of photos of "backs of heads" but when I looked, I was suprised just how much face they were really showing! Well, I have some other ideas developing in my head, but here's my start.
