I borrowed this idea from a presentation that Brian Folsom gave at our last photo club meeting here in Chaska.

Here are a few of the challenges he mentioned that a photographer faces when attempting to capture motion.

• Things happen fast ... and may not happen a second time soon
• The subject doesn’t always move predictably
• Lighting is often less than ideal
• - not in a studio or can’t use a flash
• - sun behind the photographer
• - low light – night, indoors, stadiums, cloudy, …
• Subject may be distant from photographer
• Zoom lenses make things more difficult
• - frame, focus, & control camera jiggle
