If you are looking for a camera, there are literally hundreds of options. So how to decide which camera to buy? First, to define some of the terms used when you are looking at the cameras.

SD defines the technology that is used to physically store the image on the memory card. There are different SD card types to suit different types of cameras as a micro SD or mini SD card. The camera normally comes with a small capacity memory card. You want to get a new camera to buy if you want to store a lot of pictures in it. Be sure to check the specifications of the camera before you buy extra one.
XD memory card: Like a memory card SD, XD (eXtreme Digital) is used to store their cameras. xD cards are only used in Olympus and Fuji cameras. There are also some variations in the xD. Check the specifications of your camera before you buy a card additional.
Geotagging: profiliation With GPS devices, cameras are now coming with GPS built into them. A camera with geotagging capabilities can mark your photos with the location and altitude where it was taken.

If you like take a camera with you to make spontaneous photos of your family, a digital SLR camera will not work for you. However, if you want to do all the settings yourself and aspire to be a professional photographer who does not want a point and shoot camera. Most importantly, find one that actually will use.
